Getting our Social Security Number

Oh boy... what a day. Nothing exciting... just painfully lengthy!

I´ll try and keep it short...

First of all, please note we did things in the correct order only because we learnt from the mistakes of one of our work mates (mind you it was by no means his fault, but only that of the sh***y system they´ve got here).. so miskin this guy first went to one place, where he was told he had to get something first from another place, where he was in turn told that he needed to get another doc from somewhere else... and please remember this is not Malta.. i.e. kemm taqbad il-karozza, tidghi xi wahda, issuq wahda qisek l-imxajtan,u wasalt (forsi toqtol xi qattus on the way)...

So it´s 9am and we crossed Barcelona by metro... about 30 mins. So we start waiting in line to get a document with which we get the NIF with which we are to get our NIE (social security number)...

(i´ll just approximate the times)

It´was about an hour in line to get a form which we had to fill in.
We spent about yet another hour filling the form and waiting for our turn.
We waited 5 mins till we got our NIF thingy was printed (and discovered we had to pay for having obtained this NIF).

So next stop... bank across the street to pay...

Next stop.. Police station... 10 to 15 mins along the Barceloneta coast to the Police Station... oh... and another queue...

About 20 mins later we were out and had to get to Rocafort to get the Social Security...

Another 30 min trip (part by train, part on foot) and managed to find the Social Security building... But... yes, guess... another queue.

Well in about 40 mins we were out and enjoying our turkish doner across the street... only to find out our new work place didn´t only require the social security number but also various other scanned documents.. but of course we had no pc or scanner...

Long story short we all found the means to obtain the stuff... some help from home, some luck, and some brain squeezing....

Back to our hotel... showered... and off to our first big expense... The deposit, first month´s rent, and agency fee... A few minutes of signing papers later we were the proud, new... owners... of... a contact... heh... well in simple terms we rented this flat... and we were happy with our choice... take a peak...

But anyway.... one last thing to look forward to.. Sangrias at Las Ramblas Tonight! wahooo!

Correction... un baqaros! (few can understand the meaning being this...)
